Why we insist on hand-setting diamonds

Wax setting vs. hand setting, a brief introduction

Wax setting: Diamonds are pre-embedded in the wax mold during casting. The advantage is lower setting costs, but the downside is that the stones lose their sparkle after firing, and there are large gaps between the prongs and stones.

Hand setting: After casting, stone seats are created on the semi-finished product before setting. International luxury brands use hand setting for their precious jewelry. The advantage is that the gems shine with their natural brilliance and fire, but the cost is higher.

On the market, ordinary silver and copper jewelry uses wax setting. Some stones that can't withstand high temperatures or have plating that fades easily also use wax setting. Mid-to-high-end custom jewelry, due to higher quality requirements, uses hand setting for both main stones and pavé diamonds—time-consuming and labor-intensive! Especially for styles with hundreds of pavé diamonds, the labor cost for hand setting is exorbitant. You get what you pay for!
